This wonderful work in bronze is an absolute masterpiece by Paul Comoléra, the french of great repute in the school of Animaliers. A sublimely chiseled dead bronze sparrow. Hyper realistic, impressive and top detailed sculpture with Portoro marble base made in France during XIX century. Extremely rare at this level and simply an insurmountable work of unreal quality and expression in life size. This Genuine Paul Comoléra iconic sculpture (the most famous work of this artist) is really impossible to find in this quality, and the only unsigned, first & best edition. No more than a few pieces of this exclusive prototype or presentation model have been made. This is the most anatomically accurate dead sparrow bronze ever made. I compared this one with more than one hundred pieces during several years and his superiority is evident. This is not a Paul Comoléra paperweight edition signed by Susse Freres in Paris or another foundry piece, but the only unsigned prototype edition. You can compare this Colomera sculpture with the rest editions of dead sparrows made after this one, and you will confirm how more detailed is this one, minutely carved. THE MOST AUTHENTIC DEAD SPARROW MADE BY THE SAME PAUL COMOLERA. If you contemplate quality, this work in bronze is simply magnificent. This sparrow has some kind a subtle painting work. This Paul Comolera work is really impossible to find in this quality. This is an iconic, magnificent and superb piece for high collectors or a museum. You can even perceive the beautiful realism produced for stepped feathers when you expose the figure to different angles of light. ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paul Comolera ~ (French 1818 ~ 1897) born in Paris, France. A very fine sculptor known mainly for his modelling of birds but he also produced some other animal figures as well as portrait busts. Comolera was a student of the early sculptor Francois Rude and he was the teacher of Jules Moigniez, one of the more important sculptors of the Animalier school. There is a distinct similarity in the detail, construction, form, and finish of the works of Comolera and his student Moigniez although Comolera's birds are considered to be more in the naturalistic style as opposed to the romantic style of his pupil. Paul Comolera made his debut at the Salon in 1846 with a group called Golden Pheasants of China and continued to exhibit there until his death in 1897. Comolera's bronzes are prized for their great detail and accuracy.
