Description
This celebration of power, speed and grace in cast bronze dates to 1984 and is one of a very limited edition of only 24. Measuring11" tall x 17 3/4" x 9 1/4" overall (9" x 17" x 6 1/2" bronze alone), the work captures the intensity of jockey and horse flesh as they enter the home stretch, every sinew straining toward the finish line. It is signed, numbered and dated on the back corner E Guarisco 19/24 1984 and bears the original title plate, "Will to Win". Elizabeth Guarisco was born in Louisiana in 1955 and studied art at the University of Virginia. Her close lifetime companionship with horses inspires each of her pieces, making them at once powerful and personal. This work is mounted on its original solid ebonized and molded mahogany base and shows expected dust in the details from years of proud display. There is a failed solder joint where one of the uprights meets the horizontal rail as pictured. The piece displays beautifully and sturdily as is.WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SHIP WORLDWIDE IF ALLOWED BY USPS. Please contact for international shipping cost quote.
