This is an alternative (replacement) needle that is not a genuine needle produced by the manufacturer, but has the same performance as the genuine needle.
These replacement needles are elliptic needle type. Compared to a round needle, the tip of the needle is ellipse in cross-section, and is designed to improve the extension of the high frequency range.
The typical life span is about 150 hours.
What is Nippon Seiki Jewel Kogyo (JICO)?
Founded in 1873, JICO was born in Hamasaka, a port town in Hyogo, Japan, as a needle factory that supplied sewing needles to the Imperial Court.
JICO started making record needles in 1967 and continue to produce them by hand.
Even today, there are about 2,000 different models of record needles (for about 30 manufacturers), the starting point of JICO's business, and all of them are manufactured in an integrated manner, one by one.
Each record needle requires a minimum of two and a maximum of 45 parts, which are assembled by hand, one by one, by skilled employees who can be called craftsmen.
The tools, jigs, and inspection equipment necessary for the manufacturing process are all designed and manufactured in-house, and are indispensable for maintaining the quality of a wide variety of products.
