    Description

Up for auction is a good condition original equipment tachometer (aka tach, rev counter, etc.) for the W123 series of Mercedes-Benz cars, especially the diesels. The W123 models are the 1977-1985 model run of the diesel-powered 240D and 300D sedans, 300CD coupe, and 300TD station wagons, and the gasoline-powered 280E sedan and 280CE coupe, plus a variety of European-market equivalents. Most W123 cars, including the non-turbo diesels and the gas-powered cars, did not come equipped with tachs, and as general rule the only ones that did were the later turbo diesel models--the other cars had a large clock in place of the tach, and in cars equipped with tachs like this one, this tach/clock combo fits in the slot in the instrument cluster where the large clock would go in those other cars.  This one came from a 1983 300CD turbo diesel, so it's one of the earlier models (through 1983) that used the underhood tach amplifier, while the 1984-85 models did not.
The clock portion of this gauge has been tested and works correctly..  The tachometer itself, while untested, is guaranteed to work correctly (while the clocks themselves are sometimes unreliable the tachs themselves are very reliable--I've never have a bad one yet!), and if it fails to function properly in any way you of course can return it for a full refund.
When I've sold these tachometers in the past, I've sometimes gotten technical questions from potential buyers about how to install one of these in a W123 car (diesel or gasoline) that did not come equipped with a tach. While I know it can be done and that many people do this, I'm not an expert on the technique, so please direct any such questions to your mechanic or other expert instead of to me, because I just don't know.  I will say, however, that if you Google this, you will find an number of self-help web pages that will explain the process to you in some detail, so that info is certainly out there!  I've also included the original power plug and wire leads to help you get this connected to your car.
These items are popular on eBay (especially as retrofits for cars that didn't come factory-equipped with a tach), so please be aware that when I've listed these for this sort of "Buy it Now" price in the past, they've tended to sell quickly, so you might want to grab this while you can! Shipping will be a flat to anywhere in the U.S. via USPS Priority Mail or USPS First Class Mail.  I will also ship internationally by USPS First Class International Mail--bidders outside the U.S. please use the shipping calculator under the "Shipping and Payment" tab to determine international shipping costs.
    Happy bidding!
