; Eagle standing facing on club right, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; murex shell between legs.

Tyrian purple
(aka Royal purple or Imperial purple) is a dye extracted from the murex shellfish which was first produced by the Phoenician
city
of
Tyre
in the
Bronze Age
. Its difficulty of manufacture, striking purple to red color range, and resistance to fading made clothing dyed using Tyrian purple highly desirable and expensive.
The
Phoenicians
gained great fame as sellers of purple and exported its manufacture to its colonies, notably
Carthage
, from where it spread in popularity and was adopted by the Romans as a symbol of imperial authority and status.
The origin of the saying: "Born in the Purple", and being known as the 'Color of Royalty'; extending into the modern age.

Coins will be shipped via First-Class padded parcel w/ tracking provided.  The sooner that payment is received, the sooner that I can get your coins in the mail.
I've tried to take decent close-up pictures that may allow one to view what condition the coins are in.  Understand, that coins are my hobby, not photography, so there might be times that a bronze coin may have a darker or greener patina that my camera skills were unable to capture.  In some cases, these coins 'may look better in hand'.
