    Description

    This coin is a rare  Ancient Roman  Alexandrian Billon coin minted in 191/2 C.E. It was minted under the rule of Emperor Commodus, son of the famous Marcus Aurelius.
    The obverse of the coin depicts the Emperor Commodus laureate head left; the obverse side displays Athena seated left on shield holding a scepter in her left hand and supporting Nike in her right hand. When this item was purchased the seller cited Emmit 2521/32 which rated this coin as R3, or of high rarity.  previously this coin has been in the Aiello Collection. Photos do not show silver reflections so I may update them later.
