    Description

Up for sale are two UNIQUE TAPESTRY/EMBROIDERED/NEEDLEPOINT ART WORKS:
One is Underneath Glass and in a gilt painted frame and is of a house with pink tree.
The second larger one depicts the Alphabet and is not underneath glass but does come in a nice vintage frame. Interesting it is missing the letter “J”!
    Larger piece ( alphabet) is size 9 x 7” out of frame; in frame it’s 10.5” x 8.5”
Smaller one is 8 x 8” with frame and 5.5” x 5.5” inside of frame. This one is under glass so the back side is covered with brown paper that has a tear in it and looking at the photo of this you can see that the tapestry was folded over a thin brown board... it also has a small round paper staple attached ring for hanging however this is starting to tear near sides of staple so I would recommend removing it and applying something more secure and sturdy.... the brown paper exposed on the back side is 7” x 7”
Frame is dark brown wood and painted gilt gold on the front inside part. The paint has some chips and scratches and some fading otherwise tapestry/embroidery is in very good condition- no odors or musty smells.
Larger alphabet tapestry/embroidery is not under glass and frame is carved embossed wood and top left hand carved piece is missing part of the right side. There are four lines on every corner that you can see where the frame was affixed.
Tapestry/Embroidery is affixed to white board (glued?) and has a couple of faint stains but these are on the outer edge and were hidden when framed.  Besides the missing “J”, very good condition.
I do not know the age of these pieces and I believe that the house is most likely mid-century and the alphabet perhaps older. Neither is known the makers name but I acquired each piece separately at a flea market in Kennebunk Maine.
If anyone has any information on these in regards to age please let me know!
